Man City narrowly win over West Ham, Guardiola is furious
Manchester City won with a narrow score of 2-1 against West Ham United in the 13th week of the 2021-2022 Premier League at the Etihad Stadium, Sunday (28/11/2021). Although his team got positive results, Pep Guardiola was furious.
The Citizens’ opening goal Man City’s nickname was contributed by IIKay Gundogan in the 33rd minute. The goal was the only one that occurred in the first half.
The new home team could add a goal in the 90th minute through Fernando Luiz Roza. Meanwhile, West Ham’s goal was scored by Manuel Lanzini in the 90+4 minute.
After the match, Guardiola commented on Man City’s victory. The Spaniard was a bit annoyed with a number of chances that were not converted into goals by his team.
“The chances we created, of course we could have scored three or four additional goals even though in the end we only got two goals. But the players performed well,” Guardiola said as quoted by Tribal Football, Monday (29/11/2021).
“Surprised by the number of chances we created against them. We created some (chances).”
Guardiola also gave praise to Ederson Morales. He considered the Brazilian goalkeeper to play very brilliantly. “We have a great goalkeeper. Thanks to his good performances, we were able to play well.”
With this victory, the position of Man City is still in second place with 29 points. They are only one point away from Chelsea who occupy the top of the standings. While the position of West Ham remains in fourth position.
